“Melanin Magic” (also known as “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown)”) is a 2018 song by American rapper Remy Ma featuring singer Chris Brown. It was released on January 19, 2018, runs 2:57, and came out on Reminisce Records. The track was written by Remy Ma, Chris Brown, and a team including Keirston Lewis, Ricky Kinchen, Stokley Williams, Atia Boggs, Jeffrey Allen, Dallas Austin, and Lawrence Waddell, with production by Dallas Austin. It samples Mint Condition’s “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes).”
Remy Ma first announced the collaboration on TV in November 2017, calling it “Melanin Magic” and “Pretty Brown.” A short snippet was released January 16, 2018, and fans could vote on three cover art options in a community contest. Ma said the song is meant to empower listeners, celebrating beauty in all skin tones and from within.
