Me and You (Kenny Chesney album)
Me and You is Kenny Chesney’s third studio album, released on June 4, 1996, by BNA Records. Produced by Barry Beckett and Chesney, it was recorded in 1995–96 at Masterfonics in Nashville and runs 36 minutes and 27 seconds.
Three singles were released: “Back in My Arms Again” (April 7, 1996), “Me and You” (July 22, 1996), and “When I Close My Eyes” (December 16, 1996). The lead single did not reach the Top 40, but the title track and “When I Close My Eyes” both peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard country chart in 1996. The title track is a reprise from Chesney’s previous album, All I Need to Know.
Several songs are covers: “Back Where I Come From” is a Mac McAnally cover; “When I Close My Eyes” had been recorded by Restless Heart’s Larry Stewart and by Keith Palmer; “It’s Never Easy to Say Goodbye” was recorded by Wynonna Judd; and “Back in My Arms Again” had been recorded by Lee Roy Parnell. This album is the first Chesney album where he did not write or co-write any songs.
