Mason B. Thomas
Mason Blanchard Thomas (December 16, 1866 – March 6, 1912) was an American plant scientist and college professor who also coached football. He served as the sixth head football coach at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in 1891, finishing with a record of 1 win and 3 losses.
Thomas was born in New Woodstock, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1890 and stayed there for a year as a biology fellow before joining Wabash College in 1891 as a professor of botany. He later served as the dean of faculty at Wabash for 12 years.
He died on March 6, 1912, in Crawfordsville after a two-week illness with pleurisy. He was 45 years old.
