Margrethe Tennfjord
Margrethe Lovise Tennfjord (born Gudmundseth) was a Norwegian Christian Democratic politician. She was born on 30 October 1935 and died on 11 February 2024. She grew up at Glomset in Skodje. After training at Volda Teachers’ College, she worked as a schoolteacher in Vatne from 1960. She married Ragnar Tennfjord.
In 1991, she left teaching to become mayor of Haram Municipality, serving until 1999. She was Haram’s first female mayor. She was also elected to the Møre og Romsdal county council and to the county school board for eight years. She served as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from Møre og Romsdal for the terms 1977–1981, 1981–1985 and 1985–1989, meeting in Parliament for 9 days.
Tennfjord was a board member of Ålesund Hospital, Ålesund University College and Borgund Folk High School, and she was involved with local Inner Mission and Normisjon groups. She died at 88, survived by her husband and two daughters, and she was buried from Vatne Church.
