Maple Springs, Minnesota
Maple Springs is an unincorporated community in Pepin Township, Wabasha County, Minnesota, along the Mississippi River near Lake Pepin. The Mississippi River and King Creek meet there. The town sits between Lake City and Wabasha on U.S. Highway 61 at the intersection with 247th Avenue. Nearby places include Lake City, Wabasha, Camp Lacupolis, and Reads Landing. It was once called King's Cooley, named after a coulee on a nearby settler named King. Maple Springs had a station on the old Milwaukee Road railroad. Today Amtrak’s Empire Builder passes through on BNSF tracks but does not stop; the nearest station is Red Wing, 23 miles away. The area is popular for railroad photography, thanks to a scenic curve between the high bluffs and Lake Pepin. Local businesses include a fishing resort along Lake Pepin.
