Maja Nilsson
Maja Helena Nilsson, born 8 December 1999, is a Swedish high jumper. She has competed at the Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships.
Nilsson’s first international success came at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2015 in Tbilisi, where she won silver in the high jump with 1.80 m. In 2016, also in Tbilisi, she won the European Youth Athletics Championships high jump with 1.82 m. She earned bronze at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto with 1.85 m. She also took part in the 2018 U20 World Championships in Tampere and the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships in Gävle.
In 2021 she became Sweden’s indoor high jump champion and on 30 June 2021 jumped 1.96 m, meeting the Olympic qualifying standard. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 she reached the final and finished 13th. In March 2021 at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, she jumped 1.87 m but did not reach the final. She won silver at the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships in Tallinn.
In 2022 she competed at the World Championships in Eugene, clearing 1.90 m but not reaching the final, and at the European Championships in Munich, clearing 1.83 m without making the final. At the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome, she reached the final and finished 12th with 1.89 m.
