Madingley Wood is a 15.4-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Madingley, on the western edge of Cambridge. The western part is ancient woodland with pedunculate oak, plus ash and field maple, and a shrub layer of hazel and hawthorn. The eastern part is younger and mainly has elm and ash. There are many kinds of mosses, too.

The site is private land with no public access, although a public footpath crosses the eastern end. It is used a lot by Cambridge University for research and teaching. Next to it is Cambridge University’s 800 Wood, a 10-hectare area planted with 15,000 trees to mark the university’s 800th anniversary in 2009.
