MaXXXine is a 2024 American slasher film written, directed, produced, and edited by Ti West. It is the third and final installment in West’s X trilogy and a direct sequel to X (2022). Mia Goth returns as Maxine Minx, joined by Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.

Set in 1985 Los Angeles amid the Night Stalker era, Maxine heads to Hollywood to chase fame after landing a lead role in a new horror film, The Puritan II. As she works toward stardom, she becomes entangled in a string of brutal murders tied to a televangelist father and his followers who are filming a snuff movie to expose Hollywood’s corruption. After a dangerous chase and a violent confrontation, Maxine ultimately kills her father at the Hollywood sign and continues her acting career.

MaXXXine premiered on June 24, 2024, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles and was released in the United States by A24 on July 5, 2024. The film had a budget under $10 million and grossed about $22 million worldwide, the highest in the series. Tyler Bates returned to score the film, which also features a soundtrack of period songs. The film received generally favorable reviews, with about 73% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score around 64.

Initially developed as the end of the X trilogy, Ti West later indicated there were no plans for a fourth film, stating MaXXXine marks the conclusion of the series, though he had previously hinted at a possible follow-up depending on reception.
