Lusignan is a commune in the Vienne department in western France, within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It sits about 25 km southwest of Poitiers on the RN11 road from Poitiers to La Rochelle, roughly 400 km from Paris. The Vonne river flows just north of the town, joining the Clain.

The municipality covers about 137.8 square kilometers and sits at elevations between 99 and 159 meters. In 2023, Lusignan had 2,544 residents, giving a population density of about 67 inhabitants per square kilometer. The people are known as Mélusins (men) and Mélusines (women).

Administratively, Lusignan is part of the Poitiers arrondissement and the Lusignan canton, and belongs to the Grand Poitiers intercommunality. The mayor for 2020–2026 is Jean-Louis Ledeux.

History is closely tied to the House of Lusignan, especially from the 10th to the 14th centuries. In the 16th century, the town was involved in the Wars of Religion between Catholics and Huguenots. The city walls were dismantled by royal orders in the 17th century.
