Lusekofte
Lusekofte, also called the Setesdalsgenser (Setesdal sweater), is a traditional Norwegian knit from the 19th century. The original design is black and white, recognizable by small black stitches. Some versions also feature selburose (rose) patterns. In newer designs, color is added with ribbons or black wool bands embroidered with colorful motifs around the neck and along the front opening, similar to patterns found in bunads and rosemaling. The front opening is usually fastened with pewter or silver clasps. Tourists helped popularize the lusekofte in the 1920s, and today it comes in many colors and patterns beyond the classic Setesdal style. It is casual clothing, traditionally worn mainly by men.
