Lukhovitsky District is one of 36 districts in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It sits in the southeast part of the oblast and covers about 1,340.5 square kilometers. The administrative center is the town of Lukhovitsy. The population was 58,802 in 2010 (down from 63,235 in 2002 and 65,534 in 1989), with Lukhovitsy itself making up roughly half of the district’s residents. About 62% of people live in urban areas and 38% in rural areas. The district includes 1 town, 1 work settlement, and 6 rural settlements, totaling 1 city/town, 1 urban-type settlement, and 91 rural localities.
