2012–13 British Basketball League season
The 2012–13 British Basketball League season was the league’s 26th. It had 12 teams from England and Scotland. Manchester Giants reformed and joined the league, while East London Royals planned to join but were delayed to 2013–14 after funding fell through. Milton Keynes Lions moved to London and became the London Lions. Cheshire Jets faced financial trouble and were saved by fans and businessmen, changing their name to Cheshire Phoenix partway through the season.
The regular season ran from 21 September 2012 to April 2013. Each team played the others three times, and the top eight teams moved on to the Playoffs in April. The Playoffs finished with the Final at Wembley Arena on 28 April 2013.
Leicester Riders dominated the season, winning the League title, the BBL Cup, and the Playoffs. The Sheffield Sharks stopped Leicester from winning a clean sweep by beating them in the BBL Trophy Final. The Trophy Final was played in Glasgow, with Sharks winning 71–69.
Season awards went to Andrew Sullivan of Leicester Riders as Most Valuable Player and to Chez Marks of Cheshire Phoenix as the league’s top scorer. Leicester Riders were the top seed entering the Playoffs.
