FKBP7 is a human protein encoded by the FKBP7 gene. It is also known as FKBP23 or PPIase. It belongs to the FKBP-type peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase (PPIase) family, which helps proteins fold by catalyzing cis/trans isomerization of proline residues and often acts as a molecular chaperone. In mice, the similar protein is located in the endoplasmic reticulum and can bind calcium. The FKBP7 gene is on human chromosome 2.
