Pakistan has a large banking sector with several well-known banks. Notable banks include Allied Bank Limited, Askari Bank, MCB Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited, Habib Metro Bank, Faysal Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, Bank Alfalah, and Bestway Group Limited. The central bank is the State Bank of Pakistan.

There are also many Islamic banks operating in Pakistan, licensed by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is the country’s main stock market. It began as three separate exchanges: the Karachi Stock Exchange (founded 1947, incorporated 1949), the Lahore Stock Exchange (established 1970), and the Islamabad Stock Exchange (established 1989). To unify trading, the Demutualization and Integration Act was passed in 2012, and the three exchanges merged into PSX, which started operating under that name in January 2016.
