World War II electronic warfare involved equipment, code words, and tactics based on using electronic signals. It covered radar, radar jammers, radar detectors, beam-guidance systems, and radio beacons—often used by night fighters. Much of the British work came from the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE). In the RAF, No. 100 Group and No. 101 Squadron specialized in electronic warfare, equipping aircraft such as the de Havilland Mosquito of 100 Group and the Avro Lancaster of 101 Squadron. Many American radar systems came from MIT's Radiation Laboratory, nicknamed the Rad Lab.
