Li Hualin (李华林), born October 1962 in Tianmen, Hubei, China, is a Chinese oil and gas executive and former deputy general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and PetroChina. He studied geophysical prospecting at Southwest Petroleum University, graduating in 1983, and earned a Master of Management from China University of Petroleum in 2002. He spent more than 25 years at CNPC, with assignments abroad in the United States, Canada, and Kazakhstan, and at one point served as Zhou Yongkang’s secretary. In 2013 he became deputy general manager of CNPC and PetroChina and served as chairman of Kunlun Energy. While chairman of Kunlun Energy, he was accused of abusing his powers to amass hundreds of millions of yuan. On August 27, 2013, Li was investigated by the Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection for serious violations of laws and regulations and was dismissed from his positions.
