Lew Nichols III
Lew Nichols III is an American football running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. Born August 16, 2001, in Detroit, Michigan, he went to Cass Tech High School and later played college football at Central Michigan University. In 2021 he led the nation with 1,710 rushing yards on 311 carries, earning MAC Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-MAC. He also won the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2020.
Nichols was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft (235th overall) and signed a rookie contract. He spent time with Green Bay and the Philadelphia Eagles (practice squad) before joining the Steelers in 2025. He made his NFL debut on November 2, 2025, against the Indianapolis Colts, contributing on special teams with one tackle. As of early 2026, he has appeared in at least one NFL game and later signed a reserve/futures contract. He wears number 35 and is listed at 5'10" and 220 pounds.
