Leonard W. Stanley House
Leonard W. Stanley House
The Leonard W. Stanley House is a historic wooden house in Waltham, Massachusetts. Built in 1855–56 by Leonard Stanley, a local policeman, it is one of the oldest houses on the city’s South Side, an area the city had acquired from Newton in 1849. The 2 1/2-story house blends Federal and Italianate styles. Its basic shape and five-bay front with a side-gable roof are Federal in feel, but it also has Italianate features like deep eaves and segmented-arch attic windows. In the 1870s and 1880s, the main block was expanded with additions called ells. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1989.
