Leo R. Blais (born March 7, 1957) is an American politician and pharmacist from Rhode Island. A Republican, he served in the Rhode Island Senate from 1993 to 2011, representing Coventry, Foster, and Scituate. He began in the 21st district, was moved to the 24th district in 2002 after redistricting, and returned to the 21st district in 2006. He lost the 2010 Republican primary to Nicholas Kettle.

Election highlights: He lost his first race for the 21st district in 1990 to Democrat Raymond Monahan, then won in 1992. He was re-elected in 1994, ran unopposed in 1996 and 1998, and won in 2000 against Michael Reeves and Victor Moffitt. After redistricting to the 24th district in 2002, he defeated Salvatore Lombardi, and then defeated Lombardi again in 2004, 2006, and 2008.

As a pharmacist and pharmacy owner, Blais supported small business and pharmacy issues. He helped pass Rhode Island’s Organ Donor Registry and was among the first to propose decriminalizing marijuana possession.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island. Personal life: Married to Beverly A. Webster; they have two children.

License issues: In 2012 his pharmacist license was suspended for two years after he dispensed Omeprazole tainted with Morphine to two children. In 2013 the Board permanently revoked his license. He sued the Department of Health; a 2014 ruling ordered reinstatement, but a 2017 ruling upheld the revocation and no damages were awarded.
