Lenape is an unincorporated community in Leavenworth County, Kansas. It began in 1867 along the Kansas Pacific Railroad and was named after the Lenape Indians. A post office operated from 1868 to 1943. Lumber from Lenape helped build Abilene, with pine brought from Hannibal, Missouri, and hardwood from Lenape, Kansas, so Abilene could handle about 3,000 cattle.
