La Bonne Chanson is a collection of poems by Paul Verlaine, written from winter 1869 to spring 1870. It has 21 poems addressed to Mathilde Mauté de Fleurville, who was sixteen when Verlaine wrote them and whom he married later in 1870. The poems express love in a direct, simple style, with some references to nature. Between 1892 and 1894, the French composer Gabriel Fauré set nine of the poems to music as a song cycle called La Bonne Chanson.
