Lars Eller
Lars Eller is a Danish professional ice hockey center who has played in the NHL since 2009. Born on May 8, 1989, in Rødovre, Denmark, he is nicknamed "the Tiger" and stands 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Drafted 13th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2007, Eller debuted with the Blues in 2009. He was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2010, where he played for six seasons before moving to the Washington Capitals in 2016. In 2018, Eller won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals and scored the Cup-clinching goal, becoming the first Danish player to win the trophy and to bring it to Denmark.
In 2023, Eller was traded to the Colorado Avalanche, then signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins later that year. He became the first Danish player to reach 1,000 NHL games on January 27, 2024. In November 2024, the Penguins traded him back to the Capitals. After finishing his second stint with Washington, Eller signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators for the 2025–26 season.
Internationally, Eller has represented Denmark in multiple World Championships and junior tournaments.
Personal life: Eller grew up in Denmark with his father Olaf Eller, a former Danish international player and coach, and his brother Mads. He is married to Julie, and they have two children.
