Larry Hisle
Larry Hisle (born May 5, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio) is a former American baseball outfielder and hitting coach. He played in MLB for the Philadelphia Phillies (1968–1971), Minnesota Twins (1973–1977), and Milwaukee Brewers (1978–1982). He was a two-time All-Star and led the American League in RBIs in 1977.
Drafted by the Phillies in 1965, Hisle reached the majors in 1968. After a strong 1969 season with 20 home runs, he later played for other teams and was traded to the Twins, where he became a key mid-1970s performer. He hit for the cycle in 1976. In 1977 he had his best year, batting .302 with 28 home runs and 119 RBIs. He joined the Brewers in 1978, posting another solid season before a torn rotator cuff in 1979 shortened the rest of his playing career. He retired in 1982.
As a coach, Hisle was part of the Toronto Blue Jays’ World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. Later in Milwaukee, he worked on youth outreach and mentoring programs.
