Lannie Flowers is an American power pop musician from Kennedale, Texas. He started playing guitar at twelve and chose to pursue music after leaving university. His influences include T. Rex, David Bowie, and Mott the Hoople.

In high school he formed The Pengwins in 1976. The name came from a band joke about “sixty-nine penguins” singing in the background. The Pengwins players were Lannie Flowers (guitar and vocals), Alan Petsche (guitar and vocals), Delbert Raines (bass), and Danny Wilkerson (drums). Their albums include Life After High School (1978, Fabb Records) featuring the title track, Small Vacation (1981, Arctic Records), and Mad About the Band (1988, Circle Records). A 2004 release on Aaron Avenue Records gathered songs from Life After High School, including It’s a Dream, Look Around You, and Suicide. The Pengwins recorded with Rick Derringer at Bearsville Studios in New York and with Jim Dickinson in Memphis, with involvement from Columbia and Polygram. Alan Petsche later suggested putting a release on Aaron Avenue Records, though Lannie was unsure about finding an audience.

Lannie's solo project, Same Old Story, came out in 2008 (Aaron Avenue Records) and included songs like By Your Side, You’re Not Going Anywhere, and Thanks a Lot for Nothing, totaling up to 36 tracks. He has said he had many unfinished songs he planned to complete. His album Circles followed in 2010 (Aaron Avenue Records) with songs such as Around the World, Where Does Love Go, and All Dressed Up.

His band currently includes Lannie Flowers (lead guitar), Alan Davis (guitar and keyboards), Rodney Bollinger (guitar), Neil Schnell (bass), and Brandon Bumpas (drums and keyboards). He has toured England and the United States, from Texas to Hawaii to Alaska. He has performed at the International Pop Overthrow Festival in Austin, Dallas, and New York. Notable tracks from Circles include Looking For You and Around the World.
