Lance Busa
Lance Tupaz Busa (born December 16, 1994) is a Filipino singer and occasional actor known as Lance Busa. He was born in Butuan, Agusan del Norte, Philippines. He finished third in Idol Philippines in 2019 and won Bolt of Talent, Michael Bolton's singing competition, in 2017.
Growing up with a family that loved jazz and soul, he began singing at age five, though his parents discouraged him from pursuing music as a career. He earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde in 2011. In 2015, he joined GMA Network’s To the Top and reached the grand finals; he later signed an acting contract with them for two years that did not include singing, which left him feeling discouraged.
Mentor Arnell Ignacio discovered one of his karaoke videos on Facebook and helped him, giving him support. In 2016, he played the character Mocha in the TV series Sa Piling ni Nanay. His perseverance paid off when he won Bolt of Talent in 2017 in Malaysia, catching Michael Bolton’s attention. In 2019, he auditioned for Idol Philippines on ABS-CBN, singing “What You Won’t Do For Love” by Bobby Caldwell and finishing in the top three.
