LXXVIII Army Corps (Wehrmacht)
The LXXVIII Army Corps for special deployment (LXXVIII. Armeekorps z. b. V.) was a short-lived unit of the German Wehrmacht in World War II. It was formed on 6 March 1944 in Trautenau (Wehrkreis VIII) and dissolved on 25 May 1944. Most of its personnel were used to form the I Cavalry Corps. At first it was sent to fight with the 4th Romanian Army in Bessarabia under Army Group South Ukraine, but on 30 April 1944 it was recalled to join the Replacement Army at Truppenübungsplatz Demba.
