Kyōto Daishōten is a Grade 2 Thoroughbred flat race in Japan for colts and fillies aged three and up. It covers 2,400 metres on turf at Kyoto Racecourse in Kyoto, run on a right-handed track. The race takes place in October and acts as a prep race for the autumn Tenno Sho. It began in 1966. Past winners include Mejiro McQueen, Marvelous Crown, T. M. Opera O, Tap Dance City, Rose Kingdom and Lovely Day. Three-year-olds carry 54 kg and those aged four and older carry 57 kg, with penalties and allowances for past performance. The total purse is ¥145,220,000 (as of 2025), with ¥67,000,000 for the winner, ¥27,000,000 for second and ¥17,000,000 for third. In 2021 and 2022 the race was held at Hanshin because Kyoto was redeveloped. Stay Gold is noted as the most successful horse with two wins, although its 2001 victory was disqualified after an incident involving Narita Top Road.
