James Barlow Macalpine (11 February 1882 – 17 March 1960) was a British surgeon who specialized in the urinary tract and male-genital organs, working at Salford Royal Hospital. In 1929 he described the first British series of bladder tumours linked to the dye industry. He was president of the urology section of the Royal Society of Medicine in 1934 and a Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1947. In 1951 he became the first recipient of the St Peter's Medal from the British Association of Urological Surgeons. He published Cystoscopy and Urography in 1927, which had reached its third edition by the time of his death.
