Kulcs is a village in Fejér county, central Hungary, located along the Danube River. It covers 16.73 square kilometers and had about 2,009 residents in 2004. The postal code is 2458 and the area code is 25.

The village enjoys very good air quality and has its own wind-powered turbine. Steamboats used to be a common sight until the 1960s, but today commercial boats and tourist ferries from Budapest, Vienna, and nearby areas pass by Kulcs.

In the past 20 years, many fields and pastures have been subdivided. Kulcs grew as a place for summer homes for middle-class families, and today several small, family-owned vineyards and orchards remain near nearby towns like Rácalmás and Dunaújváros.

Kulcs means “key” in Hungarian and is a popular leisure village. It has a heritage center, a new elementary school, a volunteer fire brigade, cultural clubs, a growing library, and various resident activities. Road, telephone, cable TV, and internet services are improving, making permanent living more attractive.

All essential health and care services are available in one place at the Regional Medical Center, opened in 2004, which offers post-surgery rehabilitation, one-day surgery, and outpatient care. There is also a private elderly home in town. The 140-student elementary school is named after the writer István Fekete.
