Kolar Dam is located about 35 km southwest of Bhopal in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, near Lawakhweri village. It is built on the Kolar River, a tributary of the Narmada. The dam, owned by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, has a height of 45 meters and a length of 590 meters. It provides raw water to the Kolar Water Treatment Plant, operated by the Public Health Engineering Department of MP. The plant treats about 153 million litres per day (MLD) and supplies this water to Bhopal, making up around 60% of the city’s total water supply. The treatment plant is the largest in the city.
