Kfar Eldad
Kfar Eldad is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, south of Jerusalem. It is a community settlement run by the Gush Etzion Regional Council. The town sits near Herodium and looks over the Judean Desert. It is named after Israel Eldad, a Lehi member and philosopher. The population includes native Israelis and Russian immigrants, with both secular and religious people living there together. Kfar Eldad was founded in 1982 by families from Nokdim and began as temporary housing before Nokdim was built. In 2012, about 80 families lived there. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, a view the Israeli government disputes.
