Ken Fero
Ken Fero (born 1961) is a UK documentary filmmaker, political activist and educator. Born in Malta, he co-founded Migrant Media, a company that makes documentaries about racism, human rights and resistance. He started in Fine Arts and created experimental films, such as Porte Di Roma (1985). Through Migrant Media, he produced for BBC and Channel 4, including Germany – The Other Story (1991) and Sweet France (1992), which won awards. His provocative film Injustice (2001) examines policing and custodial deaths; it won several prizes and was shown worldwide, even at the European Parliament, helping prompt changes in investigation processes. He has also created other documentaries for BBC, Channel 4 and Sky TV. Fero is Senior Lecturer in Media Production at Coventry University and teaches at Regent’s University London, Brunel University and Goldsmiths College, with international lecture engagements. He pursues experimental approaches in documentary and has produced short works like Land Memory (2013). He also runs Documentary Film Production Workshops to help local people make short documentaries.
