Kazimierz Gwiazdowski
Kazimierz Gwiazdowski (born June 10, 1962, in Radziłów) is a Polish politician, farmer and local government official. He is a member of the Law and Justice party and has served in the Sejm (the Polish parliament) in the 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th terms, continuing since 2019.
Education and early work
He finished the Water Melioration Technical School in Białystok in 1982 and attended the Primary School in Mścichy earlier. He worked at the District Melioration Company in Grajewo until 1984, then ran his own farm starting in 1986.
Local government and public service
Gwiazdowski was the village head of Mścichy from 1988 to 1991. From 1990 to 2006 he served as the head of Gmina Radziłów and was a commune councilor in the early 1990s. He was a councilor of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Sejmik from 1998 to 2002 with the Solidarity Electoral Action. He led the Radziłów Volunteer Fire Department from 1991 to 1996 and chaired local associations, including the Znicz Radziałów Rural Sports Club and the Association of Local Governments of the Biebrza River Basin.
Parliamentary career
He ran for Sejm in 2001 and 2005 with Law and Justice but did not win. In 2006 he was elected mayor and to the local council, but soon left these posts to join the Sejm as a replacement for Roman Czepe. He won a Sejm seat in 2007 with 7,545 votes, but was not re-elected in 2011. He returned to politics in 2014 as a member of the Podlaskie regional assembly for PiS. He was re-elected to the Sejm in 2015 (6,787 votes) and again in 2019 (14,101 votes). In 2022 he was appointed as a representative of a PiS district in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
