Alun John Donovan (born 5 October 1955 in Abercrave, Wales) is a former Welsh rugby union international. He attended Maesydderwen School and St Paul’s College, Cheltenham, and played as a versatile back for Swansea and Cardiff. Donovan earned five caps for Wales between 1978 and 1982. His Wales debut, in Sydney in 1978 against Australia, was at fullback because J. P. R. Williams moved to the back row due to injuries. Donovan tore knee ligaments in that match and had to be substituted. After returning from injury, he earned four more caps in 1981–82, mainly playing at centre.
