Kathleen Elizabeth George (born July 7, 1943) is an American professor and crime novelist known for her Pittsburgh-set mysteries. She teaches theatre arts at the University of Pittsburgh and fiction writing in the Low-Residency MFA program at Chatham University.

George was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She earned all her degrees from the University of Pittsburgh: BA in English (1964), MA in theatre arts (1966), PhD in theatre arts (1975), and MFA in creative writing (1988). From 1968 to 1998 she directed plays for Carlow College, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival.

She teaches playwriting and dramatic literature at Pitt, and sometimes creative writing. Her husband, Hilary Masters, was a writer and English professor at Carnegie Mellon University; he was the son of Edgar Lee Masters. He died on June 14, 2015. They lived in Pittsburgh's Mexican War Streets.

Notable works include Taken (2001), Fallen (2004), and Afterimage (2007).
