Juliana Kagwa
Juliana Kagwa (also spelled Kaggwa) is a Ugandan marketing consultant and business executive. She was appointed chief executive officer of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) on May 20, 2025, the government agency that promotes Uganda as a travel destination. She also serves as an Advisory Board member at Africa Nxt Gen Economic Foundation. Kagwa took over from Lilly Ajarova, who left in March 2025 to become a Senior Presidential Advisor on Tourism.
Before UTB, Kagwa held senior marketing roles, including Group Marketing and Sales Director at SeedCo International. She began as a graduate management trainee at Diageo and worked across Uganda and Kenya, including a stint as Uganda Country Manager for Heineken. She spent more than 17 years with Uganda Breweries Limited (a Diageo subsidiary), rising to Corporate Relations Director and Marketing and Innovations Director, where she led campaigns that boosted brand growth.
Education: Kagwa earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from Makerere University and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, part of Heriot-Watt University. She is based in Kampala and reports to the UTB Board.
