Joseph Fidel

Joseph A. Fidel (October 14, 1923 – May 13, 2015) was an American politician and businessman from New Mexico. A Democrat, he served in the New Mexico State Senate for the 30th district from 1973 to 2006.

Born in Bibo, New Mexico, he was the son of Lebanese immigrant Abdoo Habeeb Fadel (later Anglicized as A.H. Fidel). He owned a real estate company. Fidel also held local roles, including Valencia County assessor, Grants city council member, and member of the local school board. In 2009, the Cibola Beacon named him Person of the Decade. He died in Grants, New Mexico, at age 91.
