John Tiller (priest)
John Tiller (born 22 June 1938) is an Anglican priest and writer. He is best known for his 1983 report to the Church of England's Advisory Council for the Church's Ministry, called A Strategy for the Church's Ministry. The report urged the church to take a long-term view because the numbers of stipendiary clergy were falling. Many of its ideas proved prophetic and the report influenced the wider Anglican Communion. Tiller studied at St Albans School and Christ Church, Oxford. He was ordained a deacon in 1962 and a priest in 1963. After working as a curate in Bedford and Bath, he continued his ministry.
