Homesick Heroes is the fifteenth studio album by Charlie Daniels and the twelfth by The Charlie Daniels Band. It was released on August 15, 1988. The album runs 38 minutes and 11 seconds, was released by Epic, and produced by James Stroud. It features a cover of Jimmy Dean’s “Big Bad John” with harmony vocals by The Oak Ridge Boys, and “Uneasy Rider '88,” a new take on their classic story set in a Houston, Texas gay bar. In the band's chronology, it comes after Powder Keg (1987) and before Simple Man (1989).
