John Blakeney (died 1789)
John Blakeney (c. 1729 – 25 July 1789) was an Irish soldier and politician. He was the son of John Blakeney and Grace Perrse. As a soldier, he fought in the Battle of Culloden, the Battle of Martinique, and the siege of Havana, and he rose to the rank of Colonel. He represented Athenry in the Irish House of Commons from 1763 until his death. He served as High Sheriff of County Galway in 1768. He died unmarried.
