Juhana "Johan" Fredrik Cajan (13 September 1815 – 28 February 1887) was a Finnish priest and historian. He wrote Finland's first history in Finnish. He was born in Sotkamo and died in Piippola. His parents were Johann Cajan and Eva Elfving. After finishing his studies he traveled to Lapland, where he met Elias Lönnrot and helped collect folklore. In 1839–1840 he published writings about Finland's history in the magazine Mehiläinen. He used the pen names J. F. Kainonen and J. F. Kajaani. His major work is Suomen Historia. He also wrote what is considered the first non-fiction literature in Finnish. In 1842 he married Adolfina Augusta Tauler (died 1858). Later in life he suffered from mental illness.
