Joe Warren (fighter)
Joseph Ryan Warren (born October 31, 1976) is an American Greco-Roman wrestler and mixed martial artist who competed mainly in Bellator MMA. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and wrestled at East Kentwood High School and the University of Michigan, where he was an NCAA All-American.
As a Greco-Roman wrestler, Warren won the 2006 World Championship and the 2006 Pan American Championship at 60 kg, and the 2007 World Cup. He faced a two-year ban in 2008 after testing positive for cannabis and missed the 2008 Olympics; he later tried to qualify for the 2012 Games as a coach.
In MMA, Warren debuted in 2009. He fought in Dream in Japan and later joined Bellator, becoming the promotion's first two-division world champion: Bellator Featherweight Champion in 2010 after winning the season 2 tournament and then defeating Joe Soto in the title fight, and Bellator Bantamweight Champion in 2014 after winning the interim title and unifying it by defeating Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 128.
He defended the Bantamweight title once before losing it in 2015 to Marcos Galvão. Warren fought in Bellator until 2018 and was released in 2020 after a long layoff. His MMA record stands at 23 wins and 8 losses.
Personal: He is nicknamed "The Baddest Man on the Planet." He is 5 ft 6 in tall and competed at 135 lb. He is married to Christy Cech and has two children. He fights out of Denver, Colorado, and trained with Factory X.
