Joanna Mytkowska
Joanna Mytkowska, born in 1970, is a Polish curator and art critic. Since 2007 she has been the director of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. She co-founded the Foksal Gallery Foundation, which has operated independently from the Foksal Gallery since 2001. She studied at the University of Warsaw from 1988 to 1994.
In 2005 she curated the Artur Żmijewski exhibition for the Polish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She organized several Centre Pompidou shows, including Paweł Althamer (2006), The Magellanic Cloud (2007), The Anxious (2008) and Promises of the Past (2010).
Mytkowska was a member of the selection committee for Documenta 14 in 2017 and served on the jury that chose Kerstin Brätsch for the Edvard Munch Art Award in 2017. In December 2018 she received the Igor Zabel Award for her curatorial and intellectual work at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.
