James Lewington Whitehouse (9 April 1873 – 7 January 1934), known as Ripper Whitehouse, was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Born in Birmingham, he began with Birmingham St George's before moving to Grimsby Town, where he made 110 league appearances. In 1896 he joined Aston Villa and helped them win the league title and the FA Cup in 1896–97. After a spell with Bedminster, he returned to Grimsby Town, then moved to Newton Heath (later Manchester United) in 1900, making 59 league appearances. He later had brief spells with Manchester City and Third Lanark, before playing for Hull City and Southend United. Whitehouse died in Hallam Hospital, Birmingham, on 7 January 1934, aged 60.
