Jan Flinterman
Jan Flinterman (2 October 1919 – 26 December 1992) was a Dutch Royal Air Force pilot during World War II and a racing driver. He and Dries van der Lof were the first Dutchmen to compete in Formula One. Flinterman took part in one World Championship Grand Prix, the 1952 Dutch Grand Prix. After a rear-axle failure stopped his Maserati, he borrowed his teammate Chico Landi’s car and finished ninth. He scored no championship points. Flinterman was born in The Hague and died in Leiden at age 73.
