Jaguar Love was an American post-punk band formed in 2007 in Portland, Oregon by Johnny Whitney and Cody Votolato, two former members of The Blood Brothers (with ties to Pretty Girls Make Graves). They signed to Matador Records on January 21, 2008. Their debut album, Take Me to the Sea, was released digitally on August 18, 2008 after an online leak on July 15, 2008. Whitney’s vocals were noted for their powerful, intense style.

In 2008 they toured Europe, playing major festivals like T in the Park, then did a U.S. tour opening for Polysics, with more international shows later that year.

On February 18, 2009, Jaguar Love announced changes to their lineup and sound. They would tour as a two‑piece with a drum machine, performing mostly new material and only a few songs from their debut, plus a cover. They later signed to Fat Possum Records.

On November 3, 2009 they released a song called “Up All Night,” which was popular during their summer 2009 tours. Their second album, Hologram Jams, was released on March 2, 2010.

Musically, Jaguar Love moved from the Blood Brothers’ screamed style toward a more indie rock approach, blending baroque pop, art rock, soul, hip‑hop, and post-punk. They cited influences ranging from Gang of Four, Jay-Z, New Order, Bootsy Collins, Weezer, Botch, Antioch Arrow, and The Smiths. Later material leaned toward a dance-punk/new wave sound.
