Jacobo Sanz
Jacobo Sanz Ovejero, known as Jacobo, is a Spanish former football goalkeeper born on July 10, 1983 in Valladolid. He is 1.93 m tall and came through Real Valladolid’s youth system, later playing mainly in Spain with a spell in Greece.
Over his career he appeared in 179 senior matches, including 68 Segunda División games for Valladolid, Numancia, and Tenerife. He also played in La Liga for Getafe and Valladolid, and spent time in Greece with Asteras Tripolis and PAOK, plus a loan to Tenerife in 2014–15.
Key moments include his first-team debut for Valladolid in 2005, helping Numancia win promotion to La Liga in 2007–08 by playing 32 league games, and returning to Valladolid in 2008. He went on loan to Getafe due to injuries to their goalkeepers, making his La Liga debut in 2008 and becoming a starter in 2009. Valladolid were relegated in 2010.
In 2011 he moved to Greece to join Asteras Tripolis, where he had notable performances, including being named Player of the Match against Olympiacos. He later joined PAOK and had disciplinary incidents during his time there, and was loaned to Tenerife in 2014–15. Jacobo retired in January 2017 at age 33 and began working as a goalkeeping coach with clubs such as Internacional de Madrid and Aarhus Gymnastikforening.
