J. N. Donohoo
J. N. Donohoo, born Jacob N. Donohoo on December 16, 1853, in Cleveland, Tennessee, was an Arkansas politician, farmer, and banker. He moved to Arkansas in 1870, married, and owned a 160-acre farm in Marvell. A Republican and a Quaker, he served in the Arkansas House of Representatives for Phillips County from 1877 to 1879 and again from 1887 to 1893. He helped raise funds for the Masonic Temple in Pine Bluff as part of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. He also worked as an internal revenue collector, banker, grocer, editor, and real estate investor. He lived in Marvell, Arkansas, and died on November 11, 1917, in Helena, Arkansas, at age 63. He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Helena. His grandson was LaRoy A. Tate, a commercial artist from Knoxville, Tennessee.
