International Front is a jazz album by American reedist Ken Vandermark. It was recorded on September 5–6, 1994 at PBS Studio in Westwood, Massachusetts, and released in 1995 on Okka Disk. Vandermark leads the Steelwool Trio with bassist Kent Kessler and drummer Curt Newton. The album runs 73 minutes and 17 seconds. It sits between Standards (1995) and Utility Hitter (1996) in Vandermark’s discography. Reviews note a mix of experimental and straightforward playing: some sections push into avant-garde territory, while others show the musicians at their most direct and energetic. The trio is described as a powerful, muscular unit where each player competes for attention, delivering energetic, unrepentant music.
