Isi & Ossi
Isi & Ossi is a 2020 German romantic comedy directed and written by Oliver Kienle, produced for Netflix. It stars Lisa Vicari as Isi Voigt, a rich heiress, and Dennis Mojen as Oscar “Ossi” Markowski, a young boxer from a poorer background. The story is set in Heidelberg and Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg.
Isi dreams of becoming a chef and studying in New York, but her parents want her to go to university. Ossi is trying to become a professional boxer, but money problems threaten his career. After Isi’s access to her inheritance is blocked, she moves to Mannheim, gets a job at a burger joint, and meets Ossi. They start dating, partly to take advantage of each other, but soon develop real feelings. They hatch a plan: Isi will help with money to fund Ossi’s fight if he pretends to be her boyfriend to frazzle her parents.
Their plan leads to funny and romantic moments. A viral video and a boxing opportunity change both their lives. Isi’s parents agree to let her use her inheritance if she ends the relationship, so Isi and Ossi briefly break up. They realize they truly care for each other and reunite. In the end, Isi uses her inheritance to buy the burger joint, and Ossi becomes a professional boxer with her support.
The film was shot in Berlin, Mannheim and Heidelberg, over about one month. It runs 113 minutes and was released on February 14, 2020.
